MERCEDES-BENZ PARRAMATTA SUPPORTS AUSTRALIAN CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS This year’s The King’s Fest, held over the weekend of 22 and 23 September, was full of family fun including artisan markets, more than 30 wine stalls, a Supercar Show, an all-British Car Rally and carnival rides and attracted an estimated 20,000 attendees. A highlight was the $20,000 King's School Art Prize, of which Mercedes-Benz Parramatta was proud to be the patron to help support Australian contemporary artists in creating their own masterpieces for future generations to enjoy. An exhibition of the 39th Annual Art Show’s finalists featured an estimated 1,000 artworks, with the 2018 esteemed guest judge Mr Barry Pearce, Emeritus Curator of Australian Art at the Art Gallery of NSW, presiding over the event. The highlight of the evening was the announcement of winning entrant Bec Juniper, for her work titled Covered Scalded Ground. Bec is a Perth-based artist active for over 25 years, known for her aerial landscape paintings of the Australian outback, rendered using mixed media including materials found in nature.
