SEARCH ENGINE 11 The drama and beauty of this development will combine with Parramatta Heritage Parklands and the nearby 200-year-old St John’s church to create a unique sense of place in the region Bar, which is situated in the same ground- floor retail podium as Neil Perry’s Burger Project, as well as Shed Café and Shakudo Japanese. All this makes V a symbol of Parramatta’s future while also honouring its past. As construction began, several historic sites dating from the late 18th century were uncovered and have been integrated with the final design in a new privately owned cultural centre. Crown Group CEO Iwan Sunito says, “V by Crown Group represents a junction between past, present and future, a meeting point of the community and the coming together of visions created by world class architects. “We are enormously proud of V by Crown, which is not only a striking piece of architecture, but, will make a very real contribution to the rejuvenation of Parramatta’s city centre.” V is 29-storey, $309 million precinct designed by Allen Jack+Cottier Architects in partnership with Koichi Takada Architects. It is the second development in Parramatta by Crown Group, which also built Gallery at 8 Cowper Street, completed in 2009. “Our objective was to design a building that goes beyond the ordinary – one that is not only strikingly beautiful but well-conceived, balancing comfort and an unapologetic attention to detail,” said Michael Heenan, Principal of Allen Jack+Cottier. “To do that you not only need specific design skills but also a visionary client, who understands what good design can deliver.”
