As a true four-seater with discernibly more room compared with the 207 model series, the two-door coupé has a range of features both inside and out that are made in the tradition of an exclusive Gran Turismo. The exterior features a diamond radiator grille with chrome surround, integral Mercedes- Benz star and a single louvre in matte iridium silver with chrome inserts. The two powerdomes on the bonnet underscore the performance capabilities and the sporty character, and the front bumper extends with a low-set front wing for an imposing road stance. The distinct coupé design doesn’t stop there, with sleek sidewalls without edges and with their own wings, continuous glass without pillars and frameless side windows that can be almost completely lowered in the back, and up to 20-inch light-alloy wheels as an option (17-inch light-alloy wheels as standard). It’s what’s on the inside, however, that really sets the new E-Class Coupé apart. With more room and a generous sense of space, 46mm of additional effective legroom for the rear passengers provides more than previous model series. Continuous trim elements and uniform materials, from the cockpit via the doors through to the rear compartment side paneling, create a wraparound effect, and stylishly sporty design elements such as the visually and functionally unique air vents in a turbine look, and seats featuring an integral look, all differentiate the vehicle from the Saloon. The 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel in nappa leather is particularly sporty due to its small diameter and its left and right control panels with Touch Control buttons for operating the instrument cluster and multimedia system, and galvanised DIRECT SELECT steering wheel gearshift paddles on the back of the horizontal steering wheel spokes. The upholstery comes in ARTICO man-made leather/Norwich fabric in black as standard, with ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfibre in black as an option. Interior colours come in black/titanium grey pearl or macchiato beige/tizian red. The upholstery is designed in sportily transverse or luxuriously modern longitudinal quilting on the centre panel of the seat backrest, depending on selected upholstery, providing optimum lateral support due to pronounced seat side bolsters. The E-Class Coupé also includes the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive with 4th- generation assistance systems and new networking options. Using networking – our safety experts call it “sensor fusion” – the assistance systems analyse complex situations and, thanks to improved peripheral sensors, identify dangers in road traffic more effectively. This all adds up to a safer, more comfortable and enjoyable drive. Options include AVANTGARDE, Night Package, and of course AMG, providing all the visibly and tangibly hallmark characteristics of sportiness and exclusivity.
