CULTURE Winter warmer URBANDRIVER 25 ENTERTAINMENT Dance to the rhythm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night of Winterlight as a Live DJ gets you moving on the ice-skating rink. Enjoy some of Parramatta’s best live musicians at the Alpine Food Village, or just take in the roving entertainers throughout the festival precinct. Some performers will stand head and shoulders above the crowds, namely stilt-walkers who will join the party and mingle with the crowds. This includes the Snow Queens, Lady Bugs and the very entertaining Anabuloos, a troupe of bright fluffy toys known for their cool moves. The fluro-lit comic duo known as Pop Art will be on hand to raise a laugh among festivalgoers through their interactive Lichtenstein- inspired personas. THEME NIGHTS Make Winterlight a special event on Thursday, July 11, with Date Night on the skating rink, where you can request a dedicated love song and skate with your special someone under the stars. For those who like to take it slower, take a blanket and snuggle up with a bucket of popcorn to enjoy a free silent movie in the park. Winterlight Neon Light on Thursday July 11 is the perfect opportunity for extroverts to shine by wearing their brightest outfit on the skating rink. Free face painting with special UV paint will add sparkle to the costume under the UV lights over the ice rink. Over the past decade, Winterlight has evolved into one of Sydney’s largest winter festivals attracting tens of thousands of people for the coolest event of the year in the heart of Parramatta. Entry is free, and although tickets are needed for rides and the ice- skating rink, special offers are available throughout the festival.
