8 WINTER2019 WELCOME LETTER Winter 2019 Welcome to the winter edition of Urban Driver, our quarterly magazine from Mercedes-Benz Castle Hill and Mercedes-Benz Parramatta. This edition marks two very important milestones, the tenth anniversary of the new look Parramatta dealership and the first anniversary of the opening of the Castle Hill dealership and the Seven Hills Vans Service Centre. We’re very proud to be able to continue to provide the people of Parramatta and surrounding suburbs with service excellence Mercedes-Benz is renowned for, and to have offered the same to the residents of the Hills District over the past 12 months. From everyone at both dealerships, we thank you for your patronage and ongoing support. In this edition we sit down and talk with the dynamic and extremely busy Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, on her career as a medical researcher, Councillor and now Mayor, and why she is so passionate about the area. With so much growth taking place it’s comforting to know someone with so much local knowledge and expertise is at the helm of local government. We also take a walk through Bella Vista Farm Park in Baulkham Hills, also a favourite of the Mayor’s, to explore its natural beauty and look through its window into early Australian settlement. In Destination our intrepid travel writer, Mike Grenby, sets off on two very different expeditions, swimming with humpback whales in winter in Tonga and traversing the Swiss Alps in summer. His story is fascinating and makes us all a little jealous. As we’re well into the winter months we also feature the annual Parramatta Winterlight Festival, when the CBD comes alive showcasing the city’s best food and entertainment in a winter-themed wonderland. In our regular review of the latest food destinations we take a look at Parramatta Eels legend and Mercedes-Benz Castle Hill Brand Partner Nathan Hindmarsh’s venture in Glenhaven, Tuck Shop, a fantastic café featuring an array of delicious food with most ingredients sourced locally. Our regular contributors, finance expert Ross Greenwood and sports commentator Terry Kennedy, give us an insight into how confidence affects the economy and the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan respectively. And if you’d like to know more about what goes on behind the scenes, we open the doors to our Castle Hill service centre to hear about the people who care for your car.
